Jesus Christ Will Return to the Earth. What are some of the signs of the Second Coming? The Savior told Joseph Smith, “I will reveal myself from heaven with power and great glory and dwell in righteousness with men on earth a thousand years, and the wicked shall not stand” (D&C ; see also chapters 44 and 45 in this book).Jesus has told us that certain signs and events will warn us.   edited by Steve Gregg Nashville: Thomas Nelson, , pages. Don’t confuse this with a book with a similar title edited by Marvin Pate, which I also recently reviewed. That book allowed the proponents of each of four different views to present an overall summary of their approach to the book of Revelation. This book by Gregg, on the other hand, is a detailed, verse-by-verse commentary.

Luke records too that conditions before the coming of Christ will be as it was “in the days of Lot” (Luke ). The people of Sodom were exceedingly wicked. The Apostle Peter says that Lot’s righteous soul was vexed from day to day with their unlawful deeds and with their filthy conversation (2 Peter ). If you recall, in Revelation “the revelation of Jesus Christ” is the subject of this book. And, as teaches us, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” All that precedes is somewhat introductory; it is setting the stage for the coming of the Lord as portrayed in these verses.

In the Old Testament, Christ's return is emphasized in no less than 17 books, and the New Testament authors speak of it in 23 of 27 books. The New Testament mentions His return in 7 out of every 10 chapters. In other words, 1 out of every 30 verses in the New Testament proclaims that Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth. The coming of Christ is the subject of much speculation and debate. It is in books, radio, TV, and even multimillion dollar movies! I am reminded of those who said the coming of Christ would be within 40 years of Israel becoming a nation or the man who wrote "88 Reasons Why The Rapture Is In ".

Inbelievers watch the heavens and wait with great anticipation for the second coming of Jesus. The Old and New Testaments record the certainty of His return to claim His bride, make an end.

Yet God's own Word commands us to know the signs of the times, to remain watchful, and to be ready-whenever Christ comes. It may even be an interesting read for agnostics and atheists -- as well as to believers of any stripe, and to those who've liked Thich Nhat Hanh's writings on Jesus, or are interested in the Gnostic texts -- since it bears only passing resemblance to the Americanized /5(21).

The Second Coming of Christ is preceded by a number of world-shaking events that must occur before Christ can return. This is in contrast to the rapture of the church, which is always presented in Scripture as an imminent event.

The Second Coming, however, is a climax of what God is doing with the world to prepare it for Christ’s millennial kingdom. The Christian conception of Antichrist was derived from Jewish traditions, particularly The Book of Daniel in the Hebrew n about bce, it foretold the coming of a final persecutor who would “speak great words against the most High and wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws” ().Scholars agree that the author of Daniel was alluding to the.

The Second Coming (sometimes called the Second Advent or the Parousia) is a Christian, Islamic, Baháʼí and Messianic Jewish belief regarding the return of Jesus after his ascension to heaven about two thousand years ago.

The idea is based on messianic prophecies and is part of most Christian eschatologies. Views about the nature of Jesus's Second Coming vary among Christian. The first coming of Jesus Christ is called the Incarnation.

Question: "Is Zechariah a prophecy about the second coming of Christ?" Answer: Zechariah predicts, “On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the Mount moving north and half moving south.” “That day” is a reference to the Day of the Lord, and.

Misconception: The expression “every eye will see him,” used at Revelation when speaking of Christ’s coming, is to be understood literally. Fact: The Greek words in the Bible for “eye” and “seeing” are sometimes used in the sense of discerning or perceiving rather than referring to literal sight.
